OG Programs

We offer the following services for Preschool and Elementary Students (Ages 4-11) and Parents

Structured Literacy Tutoring following the OG approach to Literacy and Math

New Student Intake – Required Diagnostic Evaluation

OG Literacy

All new students are required to have an intake diagnostic evaluation so that we can assess a student’s skill level in the following areas: phonological awareness, awareness of basic spelling patterns and rules, orthographic processing, reading fluency and reading level, awareness of high frequency words (with regular and irregular spelling patterns), penmanship skills, correct letter formation, writing skills (for older elementary students). This information will allow us to create an individualized starting point for learning for each student.

OG Math

All new students are required to have an intake diagnostic evaluation so that we can assess a student’s skill level in the following areas: number sense awareness, patterning, skip counting, place value, basic adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing skills, math vocabulary, solving word problems. This information will allow us to create an individualized starting point for learning for each student.

1-1 Tutoring OG Literacy

Each lesson will focus on the following based on the profile of each student:
  • Individualized
  • Multisensory VAKT (visual-auditory–kinesthetic-tactile)
  • Focus on student strengths
  • Sessions are 60 minutes in duration
  • Online or in-person
Each lesson covers skill development in the following areas:
  • Phonological awareness
  • Phonics
  • Penmanship and letter formations
  • Reading and spelling (decoding and encoding using the sounds and rules being taught and reviewed)
  • Reading fluency
  • Vocabulary development
  • Grammar rules
  • Writting skills
  • Reading comprehension
  • Review and practice
  • Progress monitoring (diagnostic and prescriptive)

1-1 Tutoring OG Math

Each lesson will focus on the following based on the profile of each student:
  • Individualized
  • Multisensory VAKT (visual-auditory–kinesthetic-tactile)
  • Focus on student strengths

Each lesson covers skill development in the following areas:
  • Fluency Drills and Review of known and previously taught concepts
  • Patterning
  • Skip Counting
  • Place Value
  • Number Sense Concepts
  • Building of foundational skills for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
  • Strategies for solving word problems for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
  • Math vocabulary
  • Review and practice
  • Progress monitoring (diagnostic and prescriptive)

Mindfulness, Self-Regulation, and Yoga Sessions (individual or group)

Students will learn:

  • Skill development in mindfulness and self-regulation (helpful for all students and
    students that have ADHD, anxiety, and learning disabilities)
  • Ways to develop positive self-esteem through ages and stages
  • Mindfulness Parent Workshops – Ways to Support Your Child (coming soon)
  • Mindfulness Student Workshops (coming soon)
  • Yoga classes for preschool and elementary age children (coming soon)

Individual Education Plan Support for School and Parent Advocacy

  • Support parents in the creation of goals for individual Education Plans for students at
    school.
  • AIend IEP Meetings (schedule permittng)
  •  AIend Parent Conferences (schedule permittng)
  • Fill out forms for students that are awaiting educational testing.
  • Support to find community supports for student (SLP, OT, PT, Educational Psychologist,
    Behavior Consultant, etc.
  • Communication via e-mail or Zoom with School Staff.

Nutrition, Exercise, and Healthy Living Sessions (individual or group)

Students will learn about:

  • Development of healthy eating habits.
  • Body image for girls and boys
  • Role of exercise in healthy living
  • Parent and student workshops (coming soon)
  • Nutrition and Healthy Eating – Nutrition Lab (coming soon) -for preschool and early primary school children

Individual Education Plan(IEP) Support for School and Parent Advocacy

  • Support parents in the creation of goals for Individual Education Plans for students at school.
  • Attend IEP Meetings (schedule permitting)
  • Attend Parent Conferences (schedule permitting)
  • Fill out forms for students that are awaiting educational testing.
  • Support to find community supports for student (SLP, OT, PT, Educational Psychologist, Behavior Consultant, etc).
  • Communication via e-mail or Zoom with School Staff (schedule permitting).

Support for Home School and Distance Learning Students and Families

  • Structured literacy and math support following the OG approach for students being homeschooled and students taking distance learning programs (ages 4-11).
  • Weekday morning and early afternoon schedules available.
  • Support for self-regulation, anxiety, attention and focus, while supporting foundational skills development for literacy and/or math.
